Dental Assistant Apprenticeship

Martha’s Vineyard Endodontics is looking for a dental assistant! The apprentice will have the opportunity to launch their dental career at a high-tech endodontic practice! Motivated candidates will have a paid On-the-Job Training (OJT) role. Martha’s Vineyard Endondontics will fully fund and provide the training required to earn a MA Radiology Certificate and professional registration—no experience necessary. Hours: Mon-Thu 7am-3pm, Fri 9am-2pm

Duties + Responsibilities
Clinical Support:
Provide chairside assistance to the Dentist during examinations, treatment, procedures, and root canal therapy. This includes charting, writing treatment notes, and taking digital X-ray images.
Instrument and Operatory Management:
Manage the sterilization and maintenance of instruments, clean and stock the sterilization area, and set up and break down dental exam rooms. Maintaining dental supplies.
Office and Patient Care:
Maintain a clean and professional office environment, work as part of a team with a focus on communication, and compassionate patient care. The assistant works under the general supervision of the Dentist.
Skills + Experience
Required skills:
Applicants need to be 18 years of age and older
Strong communication skills
Compassionate Care
High School Diploma or equivalent
Up to date on Vaccinations
Ability to obtain MA licensure
Current CPR/BLS certification for Healthcare Providers or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
Manual Dexterity: Ability to work with small instruments in a confined space with high precision. And ability to lift 30 pounds.
Technical Literacy: Ability to learn dental software and operate digital X-ray equipment.
Physical Stamina: Comfortable standing for long periods and moving between operatory rooms.
Discretion: A firm understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy is mandatory for handling confidential health information (training will be required and will be provided.)

Compensation: Martha’s Vineyard Endodontics offers top-tier hourly rates that grow with your skill set. While no experience is required for our OJT program, their compensation is designed to be highly competitive within the Martha’s Vineyard healthcare market.

Advanced Endodontic Assisting: Mastery of "four-handed dentistry" specifically for root canal therapy and specialized surgical procedures.
Radiography Proficiency: Technical expertise in capturing and processing high-quality digital X-ray images.
Sterilization & Infection Control: Deep understanding of OSHA and CDC protocols for instrument processing and operatory disinfection.
Clinical Documentation: Skill in dental charting and writing precise treatment notes within a digital health record system.
Professional "Soft" Skills (Both Roles)
Healthcare Privacy Compliance: Real-world application of HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
Interpersonal Communication: Developing clear, compassionate communication styles for both team collaboration and patient interaction.
Time Management: Learning to navigate the flow of a fast-paced medical office while maintaining a strict 7 am–3 pm production schedule.
**Skill development will be completed with paid on the job training. The dental assistant position will lead towards a formal Massachusetts Professional Registration. This is a highly sought after career.
CAMP! Program Requirements
BootCAMP!
CAMP! interns and apprentices are required to participate in BootCAMP – a weekend of in-person professional development workshops. Topics covered include professionalism, goal setting, skill development, financial wellness, and preparing a professional profile.
Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate of completion. Exemptions may be permitted under exceptional circumstances.
When: Saturday + Sunday | June 27 + 28, 2026
Location: In-person at Slough Farm in Edgartown, MA.
